Mazal tov! Chabad of Strathavon is proudly ten years old. We have much to feel celebrate, and much more to look forward to.

At our birthday Shabbos lunch this past week, one of our members made a wonderful observation: The Hebrew letter for 10 is "yud", the smallest of all the letters. Yud's small size denotes humility and also indicates potential- you can form any other letter of the Hebrew alphabet, starting with a yud.

People tend to pat themselves on the back when they reach a milestone; yud  reminds us of our forefather Jacob's attitude. With every success that Jacob experienced, he said "I am humbled". Jacob insisted that more goodness in his life meant greater responsibility. Our attitude as we celebrate ten successful years is the same- we don't have time to rest on our laurels, we're focused on bigger and better.

For ten years, we've served the community as a Shul. Our Shul is heimish and we'd like to keep it that way. We are not campaigning for hundreds of members. Now that we're old enough, we're shifting paradigms.

As we move into our second decade, our vision is to build a Jewish Learning Centre that will revolutionise Jewish Sandton. Please join and support us as we change Sandton's Jewish landscape.
